Metro Vancouver’s medtech sector is booming and employers are urgently hiring Production Technicians to support the manufacturing of advanced medical devices. If you have experience in manufacturing, aerospace, electronics, quality-controlled environments, assembly, labs, or other hands-on technical roles, this fast-track workshop is designed for you.

Join Invest Talent and leading medtech employers for an interactive session that gives you an inside look at cleanroom manufacturing, quality systems, and the skills employers value most.

Program outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the Medtech manufacturing environment. Learn how medical devices are built, the standards they must meet, and what makes this industry one of the most exciting in BC.​​​
  • Practice mechanical and electrical aptitude skills. See the tools, components, and precision workflows used in device assembly.
  • Explore cleanroom expectations. Get introduced to contamination control, gowning requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Gain insight into Quality Management Systems. Understand documentation accuracy, traceability, and why good record-keeping is essential to patient safety.
  • Learn how technicians use ERP, MES, and inventory control systems.​​​ Get a behind-the-scenes view of the digital tools that keep manufacturing running smoothly.
  • ​Discover career pathways and growth opportunities. Hear directly from Kardium’s talent and training leaders about how to enter and advance in medtech.

  • Earn a $100 honorarium. Participants who complete the session and feedback survey will receive a $100 honorarium in return for their time and support.
  • Fast-track into training or job opportunities.  Participants can get referred to employer hiring processes and training partners (CASTL, BCIT, VCC), as well as WorkBC, MOSAIC, and others organizations.
  • Meet employers who are hiring now.​ Companies like Kardium are actively recruiting a significant number of hires, such as the Production Technicians.

Participant criteria

This workshop is ideal for individuals who:

  • Have strong English reading and writing skills, especially for following instructions and completing documentation
  • Are comfortable with hands-on, detail-oriented work that requires steady hands, fine motor skills, and good hand-eye coordination
  • Have experience with microscope work, small tools, or precision assembly (or are interested in learning)
  • Might come from backgrounds such as aerospace, electronics, automotive, labs, manufacturing, production, or other technical roles
  • Are exploring new career pathways in medtech, biotech, or advanced manufacturing
  • Are interested in cleanroom environments, quality-controlled workspaces, and regulated production

No prior medtech experience required — just curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
