The Prosperity Cycle: How Investment Fuels the Metro Vancouver Region

By 2050, more than 4 million people will call the Metro Vancouver region home. That growth brings both opportunity and responsibility. Our region needs to stay competitive, attract global investment, and create high-quality jobs that support a strong economy and thriving communities.

Foreign Direct Investment plays a critical role in strengthening the regional economy. It creates direct and indirect jobs, stimulates the development of local supply chains, boosts productivity, and strengthens the tax base for regional prosperity.

About our region

The Metro Vancouver region is the economic heart of British Columbia and the third-largest metropolitan hub in Canada. The region is home to more than 3 million residents across 23 member jurisdictions and accounts for more than half the province’s GDP.

The region's residents live, work, and learn on the shared territories of many Indigenous peoples, including 10 local First Nations: q́ićəý̓(Katzie), q́ʷɑ:ńƛ̓əń (Kwantlen), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), máthxwi (Matsqui), xʷm​əθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), qiqéyt (Qayqayt), se'mya'me (Semiahmoo), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), scəẃaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh).
