Funding, Governance, and Impact

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Invest Talent is a Future Skills Centre–funded pilot aligning industry needs with practical, skills-first training in c​ybersecurity and medtech. Employers of any size can participate. During the pilot, contributions from employers and partners are in-kind time (roundtables, co-design, mentoring, job placements). The pilot is building toward a sustainable, industry-led hub model by 2027.

  • Regional convening and labour market analysis
  • Short, job-aligned training programs

  • Independent evaluation in partnership with Future Skills Centre

  • Employers (SMEs to large enterprises)
  • Learners preparing for industry-identified roles
  • Post-secondary institutions, community organizations, industry partners co-delivering training, and job transition support.

Data and reporting

Invest Talent provides quarterly industry hub updates, annual results, and insights. All outcomes are anonymized, aggregated, and used to inform continuous improvement and policy alignment.

Co-investment models will be introduced in 2026, supporting the transition to a sustainable, industry-led hub by 2027.

About the Future Skills Centre

This project is funded by the Government of Canada's Future Skills Program. The Future Skills Centre (FSC) is a forward-thinking centre for research and collaboration dedicated to driving innovation in skills development so that everyone in Canada can be prepared for the future of work. We partner with policymakers, researchers, practitioners, employers and labour, and post-secondary institutions to solve pressing labour market challenges and ensure that everyone can benefit from relevant lifelong learning opportunities. We are founded by a consortium whose members are Toronto Metropolitan University, Blueprint, and The Conference Board of Canada, and are funded by the Government of Canada's Future Skills Program.
