The Metro Vancouver region’s high-tech economy is growing rapidly, with strong clusters in software, AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and more backed by billions in regional investment. The Cybersecurity Hub connects employers with job-ready talent by offering short, practical training programs and support for hiring and placement.

Cybersecurity in the Metro Vancouver region

A booming tech sector. Home to over 100,000 tech workers, the Metro Vancouver region ranks among North America’s fastest-growing tech talent markets. This growth is driving strong demand for job-ready cybersecurity professionals.
Cybersecurity needs across industries. Cybersecurity skillsets aren’t just needed in tech – the need cuts across sectors and industries. Demand is broad and deep with 2,300+ unique postings for cybersecurity talent in the Metro Vancouver region (Apr 2023 – Apr 2025) across finance, healthcare, transportation, utilities, public services, telecom, retail, and engineering.
Clear, fixable hiring gaps. Employers report challenges filling key defensive roles like SOC/Blue-Team, Cloud/IAM, and Architecture and Risk. They want short, vendor-aligned micro-paths with hands-on opportunities, work-integrated learning placements, and explicit communication and business fluency.

Program structure

Aggregate demand with peer employers to focus on shared roles.
Co-design learning pathways, such as workshops, micro-credentials, applied learning.
Match and measure outcomes on hires needed, time-to-productive hire, and retention, with built-in feedback loops and research for continuous improvement.
